Imam Ahmed Raza Khan on Sultan ul Hind
Bismillahir Rehmanir Raheem
The truthful devotee, Imam Ahmed Raza was satiated at the pond of Ghaus e A’azam, (who removed the dirt from the face of the religion of truth and gave it a new life), says beautifully about the showers of blessings that were obtained by Sultan ul Hind:
Mazra’a Chisht o Bukhara o Iraq o Ajmer
Kaun Si Kasht Pey Barsaa Nahi Jhala Teyra?
(The lands of Chisht, Bukhara, Iraq and Ajmer
Upon which lands did your blessings not fall?)
Sayyedi Sarkaar A’ala Hazrat ‘Alaihir Rahmah wrote a book titled ‘Zeelul Muddu’a Al Hasanul Wa’aa’ (Published by Raza Academy, Mumbai), in which he has stated the places where supplications are accepted by Allah Ta’ala. In that section he has specifically mentioned the court of Sultan ul Hind as the place that Allah Ta’ala especially accepts supplications in Hindustan. One of the objections that was raised during the time of A’ala Hazrat was that Sultan ul Hind should not be called ‘Gareeb Nawaz’ (Helper of the poor). A’ala Hazrat ‘Alaihir Rahmah wrote a detailed, comprehensive reply to that objection, and at the end he wrote emphatically, ‘Sultan ul Hind is the Helper of the truth and the religion, and is definitely the Helper to the poor.’
‘Allama Hasan Raza Khan Barelwi, who is a great poet and a master with words, and is the brother of A’ala Hazrat, wrote the following memorable verse in relation to Sultan ul Hind:
Khwaja e Hind Woh Darbaar Hai A’ala Teyra
Kabhi Mehroom Nahi Maangney Waala Teyra
(Master of Hind, Your court is so exalted
No beggar in your court is ever deprived)
Similarly, when objections were raised because of the fact that the word ‘Shareef’ was added to Ajmer, A’ala Hazrat ‘Alaihir Rahmah gave such a complete reply to this objection in Fatawa e Razvia that it silenced the critics.
Water of Ana Sagar in a Small Container. Some employees of Prithvi Raj came to Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz ‘Alaihir Rahmah and said to him, “Old man! Move away from here, go somewhere else, do not take water from this lake after today, and do not wash yourself with the water of this lake either. Our lake is pure, and when you wash your hands and body in the lake, it becomes impure.†(Na’oozu Billah).
Khwaja Mo’inuddin Chishti Ajmeri Radiallaho Ta’ala ‘Anhu said, “I have seen that everyone washes and bathes in this lake, takes the water, and washes their clothes in it. What difference does it make if we also take some water?†The employees replied, “Old man! The people who wash and bathe, take the water, and wash their clothes in it all belong to our faith, our religion, and have the same beliefs as us. Therefore you can not compare yourself to them, and you may not take water from this lake after today.†When the employees of Prithvi Raj started insulting in this manner Khwaja Mo’inuddin Chishti Ajmeri Radiallaho Ta’ala ‘Anhu said, “Qutbuddin!†He replied, “I am here Sir.†Gareeb Nawaz said, “Son, stand up! Take a container and go and fill it with water from the lake so that we do not run out of water. Maybe these Hindus will not let us take water from it again.â€
Hazrat Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtyar Kaaki ‘Alaihir Rahmah got up, picked up the water-skin, and arrived at the banks of the lake. He sat on the steps leading to the lake and said, “O employees of the king, may I fill this water-skin with water from here?†They replied, “You may fill it from there for now, but remember! You can not get water from this lake after today.â€
Hazrat Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtyar Kaaki ‘Alaihir Rahmah placed the water-skin into the lake in order to fill it with water. When it was almost full and he lifted it up, all the water was in the water-skin, and the lake was completely dry. Khwaja Mo’inuddin Chishti Ajmeri Radiallaho Ta’ala ‘Anhu had through his greatness and splendour, captured the whole lake in the small container. The earth opened up its pores and absorbed all the water of the lake by the Grace and Majesty of Allah TaAla.
